Pleasant lemon citrus aromas. This wine sports a broad palate with quite pleasing weight. The flavours are of ripe lemon and the palate is not too phenolic or oily with the alcohol well-controlled too. Certainly one of the better balanced examples of Pinot Gris in our tasting.
Three steeply stepped, sun-baked terraces on the southern bank of the Awatere River inspired the name of a farm – Triplebank. Now this land produces grapes that reflect the raw nature of Marlborough’s “forgotten valley” – vivid flavours captured in every bottle of Triplebank wine. Our winemaking philosophy is to capture and accentuate the essence of what is proving to be a distinctive winegrowing area.
Pale straw in colour, Triplebank Awatere Valley Pinot Gris 2007, displays lifted fruit aromas with a touch of creaminess. The palate shows the ripe pear and rock melon flavours which is making this variety so sought after, with great concentration and tantalizing tropical notes.
