Aged for seven years in Matusalem's Solera system, this is a welcome addition to the popular Matusalem range. The company has an interesting history, having been founded in Cuba in 1872 but then being forced to flee to the Dominican Republic following the Cuban Revolution in 1959. Matusalem Rum is now bottled and produced in Santiago, Dominican Republic. The family adheres to the original recipe and standards, which create a smoother and more flavorful product than other rum producers because the company?s founders borrowed the Solera techniques used to produce Europe?s finest wines, cognacs and sherries.In the Solera blending process, various mature aged Caribbean rums are carefully blended with more exuberant rums to create exceptionally smooth, unique blends.
